Choose your card for the week of 8/31/08

By Susan Gold

I’m excited to include the just-released Quantum Tarot: A Tarot of New Physics for the “Choose your card for the week” series! Congratulations to Kay Stopforth and Chris Butler for bringing this beautiful deck to fruition.

Kay and Chris are hosting a Quantum Tarot Virtual Launch Party on Monday, September 1, and there will be a raffle with fabulous Quantum goodies. Don’t miss your chance to win a signed deck.

This is a must-have, folks. What a unique concept:

“Quantum Tarot combines the revolutionary theories of 20th century physics with the traditional 78-card structure of a tarot deck. Quantum mechanics, Einstein’s theories of relativity and superstring theory offer new and strange views of our world. The Quantum Tarot makes these startling ideas accessible through the symbolism of the tarot, giving poetic expression to dry theory. The deck examines how the most important theories in modern physics play out in two extreme worlds; the vast expanses of the universe and the strange, invisible world inside the atom.” —Kay Stopforth

Intriguing, huh? You can also see how vibrant and electric the images are. The cards feel good in the hands, too—nice thick matte stock paper, with silver edges. The book that comes with the deck is comprehensive, beautifully written, and nicely designed, too. You’ll want to supplement your reading with Kay’s blog. She expands on each of the Majors there.

Okay, so let’s choose our card for the week from the Quantum Tarot: A Tarot of New Physics, published by Kunati, Inc. As always, when making your selection, don’t worry about what the cards mean. Base your choice on the pictures—the stories they tell and how they make you feel.

Let us know which card you chose—post a comment!

I was drawn to the 6 of cups for some reason but then again my thoughts have been focused on remebering my parents who are now passed over..and i have been planning a trip to a seaside place they took us for holidays…i wonder if anyone feels if this is a good idea bearing in mind i was drawn to this card (what advice do you think the tarot is trying to tell me)

    Hi Janet,

Thanks for posting a comment. The 6 of Cups is certainly a card which encourages us to reflect on our childhood memories. In the Quantum book, the question that goes with it is, “What can you learn from looking back into the past?” That may a good question for you to think about as you consider a trip to that seaside place. Ultimately, I don’t know that the cards offer advice. Rather, they encourage us to tap into our own inner wisdom.

Susan – thanks so much for featuring the Quantum Tarot for your weekly draw :) I’m choosing the Ace of Swords as this is the day the deck is officially launched, so the Ace seems appropriate for the start of something new (besides it’s one of my favourite cards ;) )

Janet – I do feel this particular 6 of Cups is very much about the adult looking back at the child he/she once was, so your seaside trip sounds ideal. :)

BTW, we’re celebrating the launch of the deck with a virtual party over at Aeclectic Tarot Forum. There’s a raffle with lots of goodies, as well as virtual champagne and cocktails. The party will be running until we draw the raffle at midnight tonight (UK time). Please drop by and say hello, have a drink and enter the draw:

(Unfortunately, Aeclectic are not taking new registrations at the moment :( If you don’t have an account there, you’ll still be able to read the thread but not to post – sorry about this).

I’m drawn to the 2 of Wands, which is the card I was just meditating on yesterday. Based on a reading, it seems that there are different paths that I am on that seem separate, but are actually one in the same. For my recent experience in this card, it seems that my new spiritual and creative paths that have recently begun are converging.

I chose Justice, no particular reason. I just liked the colours and the figure of the woman seen through the haze.
