While doing a reading for my friend, Carolyn, The Magician card turned up. When I asked her to describe the card, she said, “Getting things out on the table.”
This is by no means a traditional interpretation of the card, but it works for me!
It is the Magician’s table, which fascinates me most about the card. I even named my website The Magician’s Table! Displayed on the Magician’s table are images of the four suits of Tarot: a Pentacle symbolizing our basic physical needs and innate connection with nature; a Cup representing our capacity to feel and dream; a Sword signifying our ability to be thoughtful and analytical; and a Wand which stands for our desire to create and ability to take action. The Magician is the only card in the deck that includes all four suits.
Exercise for Reflection:
Go through the deck face up and find a card that illustrates something you need to “Get out on the table.” Draw a random card to give you insight into what is stopping you.

OK Susan, I tried this exercise and here are my results.
The first card I decided on was the Ten of Penticles (seeking a stable finacial and well rounded home life)
The card randomly drawn against this was the Eight of Penticles Reversed.
The second card I decided on was my birth card, The Magician (seeking what is getting in the way of becoming the master that this card indicates)
The card randomly drawn against this was the Eight of Penticles Upright.
This is the kind of thing that has set some friends uneasieness when they have had me read for them. As for me I can see I need to set a good focus and do the training and work to lay the ground work for a more successful future.
